Watch closely. Do you see the extra little toes and the movement under both wings? Yesterday we received our first pups of the year into care. Luckily they came with mom. We can support the mom, and she will care for the pups. Unfortunately mom was washed down from her roosting location when the finders were cleaning their home. Fortunately they cared and brought her to Gold Country Wildlife Rescue, who then called us. When we received the box, it said there were 2 bats, a mom and her pup. By the time Kim got home to examine the bats, there were 3! Mom gave birth in the box. Pallid bats are large for bats of CA and they are known to have twins. Most bats only have one pup per year. So far mom and her pups are doing well. We will be sure all is well before they return to the wild.Keep your eyes open, it's baby season. We will continue to see birthing now until the beginning of July. Bat pups, like other mammals, nurse. Around mid to late August all will be flying well. ... See MoreSee Less
